Stowaway in Coiirt. A man who stowed away on the Tymeric at Hong Kong on September 29 appeared at- the New Plymouth Court yesterday. Inglewood Man Injured. Severe injuries to the left leg and hand were received bjr an Inglewood man as the result of being knocked down by a heavy quarry trolley. Boundary Alteration Opposed. The ' Clifton Couhty Council has strongly opposed the' transferof some of its area near the Mokau River to be included in the Waitomo county. Blinded by Explosion. Temporary blindness was suffered by a man at Stratford wheri a charge of gelignite exploded in his face. He was -admitted to the New Plymouth Hospital. Dogs to Carry Skis. The suggestion that dogs might be trained to haul skis up Mt. Egmont was made by Mr. Oscar Coberger, Arthur's Pass expert, who owns a husky educated to the task. Ilectic Year On Tramp Steamer. Tliree wars and two typhoons, in one of which the ship ' was c'ast ashore, were the experiences in one year of members of the crew of s.s. Tymeric, which is at present at New Plymouth. Death of Farmer. With extensi've injuries to the body an Inglewood district farmer was found dead on boulders at the edge of the Waitepuke stream, Inglewood. It is understood his eyesight was defective. Manaia Sewerage Schcme. The Manaia Town Board will finally discuss the question of completing the sewerage scheme. It is hoped that information from the Government will clarify the position for the next monthly meeting. Local Bodics and Benzine Prices. Local bodies are to be exempted from regulations fixing the price of m'tor spirit. Provision to that effect is to be made in an amendment to the Motor Spirits Act, according to advice received' yesterday by the Clifton County Council. Ohura Education Facilities. Members of the Taranaki Education Board paid their periodic visit to Ohura. Several scjiools were visited, including four new schools, two of which were otFicially opened. The requirements of various districts were placed before tlie board. Hospital Fcars Vanished. Fears among Maoris of hospital treatment were now vanishing in Taranaki, according to Dr. F. W. W. Dawson, medical officer of health for the Taranaki district. He described Taranaki, as far as Maoris were concerned. as one of the most hospital-minded districts in New Zealand.
