PLANES IN QUEENSLAND ONE CRASHES TO GROUND PILOT BURNED TO DEATH OTHER LANDED SAFELY

Rec. 11.45 p.m. Brisbane, Aug. 8. Two Gigsy Moth aeroplanes engaged in an air race collided at an altitude of '200 feet to-day. One machine crashed on the Rocklea showground and burst into . flames. The pilot, Mr. Duncan Ferguson, aged 35 . \ years, was incinerated. The other plane," although seriously damaged by the impact, was brought down safely on the Archerfield aerodrome by tfie pilot, Mr. William Hill. He I was suffering greatly from shock, but he was not injured.
