i AWARD OF EDWARD MEDAL. ATTEMPT TO RESCUE NATIVE.

Rugby, Aug. 4.

The Klng has awarded the Edward medal for gallantry to L. M. Bangley, employed ln one of the gold mlnes at Kekamaga, ln Kenya, for the eflorts he made to save the llfe of a natlve worker after an explosion ln tho mlne ln January, 1936. Bangley was flring a second round of nlne holes when one hole exploded prematurely and he was blown some distance away. His natlve assistant, struck by a rock, fell with his face in some water. Bangley returned in the darkness, found the natlve and carried him to safety. The injured man was taken to the surface but dled from his injuries.
