SHEEP AND CATTLE AT HASTINGS. WELL FINISHED LINES SOUGHT. Hastings, August 4. Parity values for fat cattle were experienced at to-day's stock sale at Stortford Lodge, when a moderate enti*y of 275 head was offered, but lighter* and plainer sorts met an easing in values. The store cattle entry of 250 head was somewhat mixed, prices varying accordingly. Fat sheep values were fairly well maintained on an entry of 500 head, with keenest competition for weighty, well-finished lines, lighter sorts being slightly easier. A store sheep entry of 4500 head included good lines of wethers and wether hoggets, on which there was a farming tendency. Competition was steady on all but poorer entries. The range of values was as follows: — Fat cattle: Bullocks, medium to prime £11 to £13, others from £9; cows, medium to prime £9 to £10/11/-, others. from £5; heifers, medium to prime £9/15/- to £10/15/-, others from £7. Store cattle: Weaner steers, to £5/14/-; weaner heifers, to £3. Fat sheep: Ewes, medium to prime, 28/- to 38/-; wethers, medium to prime, 34/- to 37/8; hoggets, medium to prime 27/- to 36/9, others from 19/-; twotooths, prime, to 29/8. Store sheep; Wethers, fat and forward, to 27/6; wether hoggets, shorn to 22/-, woolly to 2.5/-; ewes, four and five-. year to 25/-, six-tpoth to 31/-.
