TARANAKI WOMAN IN AUSTRALIA. MRS. W. E. CARTER INTERVIEWED. Mrs. W. E. Carter, Eltham, has come to Australia as the representative of the women's division of the Farmers' Union of New Zealand to visit branches of the Country Women's Association and study the work being done here, states the Sydney Morning Herald. At home Mrs. Carter's time is devoted to looking after her family of eight — six sons and two daughters— and assisting her husband with the management of his 300-acre farm. She is herself a breeder of Tamworth pedigree pigs, with which she has won prizes. In additlon she is a justice of the peace and an honorary welfare officer. The latter post entails considerable work, as she not only sees that neglected or orphan children are sent to suitable homes, but she visits them continually to see that they are being. properly cared for.
