London, Aug. 3. The Archbishop of York, the Most Rev. W. Temple, opening the world conference on faith and order in Edinburgh, delivered an outspoken sennon on the evils of a divided Ohurch. " "Even the ordinary lay fold are more ready to come together in the face of a recurrence of paganism than the leaders of ecclesiastical organisations which are intent on maintainlng their traditions and keeping their organisations in working order," he said. "How can the Church call on men to worship one God if it is calling them to rival shrines."
