Avalanche on East Egmont. A snowslide of unusual beauty had been formed by an avalanche in the Manganui Gorge on Mount Egmont during July, it was reported at a meeting of the Stratford Mountain Club on Tuesday night. Sixty feet high and stretching for half a mile the fall is of many forms. It is expected that it will remain in the gorge till the summer. Junior Rugby Championship. New Plymouth Old Boys, winner of the northern division Rugby competition, and Stratford, central division winner, will play at Stratford on Saturday as a curtain-raiser to the TaranakiCanterbury representative match in the semi-fmal of the Taranaki junior Rugby championship. ' 1 Foresters' Card Evening. Prize -winner s at the weekly euchre and dance at the Foresters1 hall, Stratford, were: Mrs. Tunbridge 1, Mrs. Jacobsen 2, Mrs. Hatcher (consolation), Mrs. McQuay; Mr. Hoskins 1, Mr. R. Yandle 2, Mr. Hartwig (consolation), Mr. Short (special). Mr. and Mrs. Adamson won a Mon-te Carlo waltz. Music was played by Wright's dance foand. Aero Club Control. Matters relating to the management of the Stratford Aero Club were discussed by representatives of the club and of the Stratford Borough Council at a special meeting on Tuesday night. No facts regarding the negotiations have yet been disclosed to the Press but the matter will be brought before the borough council at the next monthly meeting with a view to establishing a system under which the aerodrome can be controlled. Work on Batiis Begun. Work in coruiection with the excavation of the new Stratford swimming baths was begun yesterday by the contractor. . Measurements were cornpleted and a start was made with the digging. The contractor is Mr. A. Cameron.
