GOOD SALE AT TAUMARUNUI.

Taumarunui, Aug. 3. At the special sale of dairy , cows. and heifers to-jday there was a large yarding of good quality cattle and prices were higher than at any previous sale this year. The cows and heifers were in splendid . condition, showing how mild the winter has been this . year in the King Country. From the outset bidding was brisk, and with so many outside buyers present from Taranaki,' Te Kuiti and the Waikato vendors had no trouble iri getting their reserves. A large number of cows made up to £7 17s 6d and the best heifers, due to calve early, sold up to. £6 15s. Prior to the sale of dairy stock about 150 pigs were offered and high prices were reached for the whole yarding. Good stores made up to: 35s, and the best porkers realised £2 16s, Breeding sows were in demand ■ up to £4, and one sow, with litter of seven, made £8 5s. Quotations are;— '•"* Pigs: Porkers, £1 19s, £2 12s to £2 16s; stores (good), 31s 6d, 33s, to 35s; stores (small), 8s, 9s, 17s to 23s; breeding sows, £3, £3 10s, £3 15s _to £4; sow, with litter, £8 5s. 3 Dairy cows: On account of Mr. O. B. Dobbs, Kaitieke, Shdrthorn cows iri calf to Aberdeen Angus bull, £4 17s 6d, £5 12s 6d to £6 7s.6d; somid dairy cows, £5 to £7 17s 6d. Heifers, in calf to Shorthorii bull, £4 12s 6d, £5 15s," £6 7s 6d to £4 15s. On account of Mr. C. R. Sned-j don, Te Koura, Jersey cOws in calf to Red Polled bull, £5, £5 15s, £6, £6 7s 6d to £7 17s 6d. On account of Mr. D. Woods, Otunue, early calvers, £5, \£6 to' £6 - 15s. On account of ;'Mr. J. 'Turley, ; Kakahi: ; Second, calvers, £3 15s to £3 17s 6d; sound cows, £4 12s 6d; empty cows, £3 5s. On account of Mr. A. Church, Te Whakarae: Cows' and heifers, £4 to £5 2s 6d. On account of Bell's estate, Manunui, whole herd averaged £6. , '
