INSTITUTE CONCERT

TARIKI DISTRICT EVENTS. ■ The Tariki hali was comfortably' filled on Friday night for the combined concert given by members of the Norfolk and Tariki Women's Institutos. The programme comprised: Pianoforte solo, Miss F. Voitre; songs, Mrs. Jim Fabish; tap dance, Miss S. Manning; songs, Mr. W. Smith, Inglewood; playette, junior members of ihe Tariki Institute, the Misses N. McElroy, J. Knowles and C. Therkleson; song, Mrs. H. Swanson; play, mem'bers of Norfolk Institute, Mesdames Joe Fabish, F. R. Startup, F. Voitre and the Misses S. Byrne and S. Reardon; song, Mrs. Jim Fabish; play, Mesdames F. Letts, A. Wicksteed, B. Crowe, H. Swanson and the Misses J. Jemison and E. and A. Letts. Most items were encored. When the programme concluded the performers were entertained at supper, by the committee. Flag Five Hundred. The final of a series of flag five hundred evenings was held in the Tariki hall on Saturday night, Owing to counter-attractions there was only a fair attendance. The points prizes for the series went to Mrs. G. Knowles and Mr. F. Letts. The winners for the final night were: Winning table, Mesdames E. James and F. Letts and Messrs. L, Hollis and Ron Kerr; most flags, Mrs. H. Kerr and Mr. Ron Kerr; travelling flags, Miss E. Knowles and Mr. Ron Kerr. Personal. Miss Mavis Humphries has returned to Opunake. Mrs. F. Gladding has retumed from a visit to Auckland. Miss M. Butler is on holiday.
