NEW PLYMOUTH

Mrs. F. Smith and' Mrs. C. Moss, Pungarehu, arrived at Auckland in the Awatea on Tuesday after spending a month at Sydney and Melbourne. Mrs. F. W. W. Dawson has returned {rom a visit to North Auckland. Her daughter, Miss Vyvyan Dawson, will return to-day from Te Awamutu. Mrs. Renshaw, who was the guest of her daughter, Mrs. R. H. Liayton, has returned to Tauranga. Miss Moira Clark, of the staff of the public hospital, is spending a holiday at Otane. Miss Ellett will leave' to-morrow for a short visit to Feilding. Mrs. Ashton left yesterday by air for Auckland. Miss Pat McNi'coI, "of the staff of the public hospital, is spending her annual leave at Dannevirke. Miss A. K. Christoffel, New Plymouth, who received her training at St. Helen s, Wellington, has received word that she has passed the State midwifery examination with honours. Folk Dancing Society. The usual monthly meeting of the New Plymouth English Folk Dancing Society was held at Stradholme on Monday. The leaders of the three groups reported on the month's work. Letters were read from the Director of Education and Mr. John Oliver, Nelson, lately g member of the London headquarte'rs demonstration team, who hopes to be present at the next vacation course. In view of the fact that Mr. Harry Lattimer is now resident at New Plymouth and is willing to help with Morris dancing it was decided to reorganise the classes next term to enable the most advanced dancers to have a class to themselves at Stradholme, when part of the time could be devoted to Morris under Mr. Lattimer's tuition. course were deferred until the return of Miss Taylor to New Zealand from England next month. Mah Jongg Party. Mrs. C. H. Wynyard, who wore an-at-tiactive tunic of green floral crepella, belted in gredn velvet, over . a skirt of black crepella, was hostess at mah jongg last night. The drawing room was gay with pink Iceland poppies and deeper pink rhododendrons.
