WEST END SCHOOL ATTENDANCE. MEETING OF COMMITTEE HELD. _____ i The peak roll for a considerable nxim-, ber of years was recorded at the monthly meeting of the West End school committee last night. ; / The present roll number was 442, the' admissions during the month having been 30 and the withdrawals 24, reported the head teacher, Mr. W. L. Wagstaff. The average attendance was 407.9, or 91 per cent. Good progress was being made in teaching the deportment and dancing necessary for the annual ball. Mrs. Larkin had joined the staff as additional assistant until the end of the year. It was decided to draw the attention of the Education Board to the unsatisfactory- heating of the class room in the east wing. A letter is to be forwarded to Mr. Parker thankmg him for his co-opera-tion in connection with Arbor Day. The ' caretaker reported that people were trespassing in the school grounds and in the shelter shed at night. Messrs. J. H. Mander and C. , Purvis were appointed a visiting committee. Reference was made to the success achieved by the school team in winning the Taranaki Primary Schools' Association football championship, and the headmaster was askied to convey the eommittee's appreciation to tlie team. A congratulatory letter is aiso to be forwarded to the coach, Mr. J. A. Holmes, expressing appreciation of the interest he has taken in the team. There were present Messrs. S. Jury (chairman), C. O. Berg, G. Purvis, R. G'Dowda, E. Le Pine, J. H. Mander and L. Smart and C. Nicholls (secrctary).
