EVERYBODY'S THEATRE.

"ESPIONAGE" FROM METRO. The Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer production "Espionage," which opened yesterday at Every body's Theatre, New Plymouth, tells o£ the adventures of rival newspaper reporters, and the story is so strikingly told and the film acted with so much humoin: that it is fresh and entertaining. Edmund Lowe and Madge Evans are the correspondents of two news agencies who set out from the Paris office on the trek of an international ammunition king who is making a secret ioumey. There is adventure in the way they manage to be on the assignment, and there is plenty of action in the time they spend together on the train before the story reaches its conclUsion in Switrerland. Paul Lukas, who plays the role of the Zaharoff, is twice attacked, there are odd doings in and about the compartment occupied by the woman reporter, th.ere is an amusxng tangle over personal relationships, and the film, which does not lack -its thrills, moves to a highspirited firiished. The direction is of a high standard, and the supporting cast, which includes Ketti Gallian and Skeets Gallagher is of excellent quality. A bright array of shorts includes an Our Gang comedy "Rushin' Ballet," a colour cartoon, Pete Smith oddity, two news reels including a spectacular film of "Trooping the Colours" before King George VI. Tremendous interest is being taken in Gracie Fields' latest and greatest musical comedy "The Show Goes1 On," which is listed as Everybody's attraction for the week-end. "The Show Goes On," which magnifies the popularity Gracie won as "Queen of Hearts," will commence on Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. The popular stage star -Cyril Ritchard plays opposite "Our Gracie." The plan is now open at Collier's where early reservations should be made.
