FASHION FORECASTS
MODES FOR THE SPRING DAILY NEWS SPECIAL FEATURE. SERIES OF EXPERT ARTICLES. ART WORK IN ILLUSTRATIONS. ) — — — / The fashion pages which have been a feature of the Taranaki Daily News Saturday supplement for some time should be of particular interest as from to-day, for a series of special forecasts of the coming spring fashions will be presented each week, com- • mencing this morning. These features, which are compiled by the world's leadhig fashion experts, have been procured exclusively by the Daily News at considerable cost, and it is confidently claimed that they are outstanding in the newspaper fashion services of New Zealand. • A characteristic of these fashion features is the art work the presentation of the illustrations. Their chief value, however, is in the soundness of the style forecasts. The predictions of spring fashions to be published during the next few weeks have been compiled by experts who have personally visited all the important fashion displays at London and on the Continent, and have based their forecasts on the information thus gained, adapted, of course, to the southern hemisphere season. Readers may rest assured that the fashions presented will be definitely the vogue in Australia and New Zealand for the next six months. Prevailing Note. From the numerous prophecies on today's page it appears that the prevailing spring note is "no dress without its coat." Evening gowns indicate a reversion to the romantic' period. Next Saturday the fashion page will be devoted almost exclusively to hats. Sweeping changes will be seen in millinery styles, which will be effectively displayed in the illustrations. The fashion page on the following Saturday will take readers to the United States, and the latest fashions in Hollywood will be shown to advantage by Loretta Young, the well known film star. Some of the frOcks and gowns shown were specially designed for the star to Wear in the films "Cafe Metropole" and "Love Is News" and were subsequently purchased by Miss Young for her personal wardrobe. Another page will be devoted to 'a summary of, the trends in hats, coats, blouses, afternoon wear, evening frocks, accessories, and stockings, and the page will be ehtirely illustrated by pen and ink sketches.. Since the Daily News\ instituted this fashion feature it has attracted attention throughout New, Zealand, and at their request six other leading newspapers are now being supplied with the page after it has appeared in the News.
