By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.

ATTEJVIPT ON SPEED RECORD. PILOT ESCAPES UNINJURED.

f Rome, April 29. Raymond Del Motte, attempting a world speed record in a land plane had three mishaps. Firstly, a cylinder exploded, necessitating the engine being changed. Further engine trouble developed later and finally when the attempt had apparently fairly started, watchers were horrifled to see his plane suddenly overturn and spin downwards in flames. Del Motte jumped out and parachuted to a safe landing, slightly injuring his head.
