New Leading Role.
George Brent, the Warner BrothersFirst National star, has been assigned by Cosmopolitan to play the lead in a new picture which will be adapted from Peter B. Kyne's Cappy Ricks story "The Go Getter." Busby Berkeley will direct the new film. Brent is currently engaged in "Mountain Justice," which is still in production, with Josephine Hutchinson in the leading feminine role. However, the next forthcoming film made by Brent is the all-technicolour "God's Country and the. Woman" from James Oliver Curwood's novel of the Korth-west. Brent is cast opposite Beverly Roberts in the Curwood film, which is expectcd to . arrive in New Zealand soon. « He » • Paramount are preparing a film based on the' life-stories of Gilbert and Sulliven. Unless the company can get permission from the British copyright holders, the picture will not be shown in Great Britain. • * * * Jack Hulbert says he intends to devote his time exclusively to films iri future. "I have spent months studying and learning about every department of filmmaking,'* the comedian said, "and ara taking films very seriously now. I shall never act on the stage again."
