London, March 25. It is Md\vn to the Home Offlce and Sootland Yard that quantities Of smuggled drngs are coining into Britain in spite of the utmost vigilance by the Customs' otticers at all ports of entry. The official theory is that the illegal tfafflc is being carried on not by smuggling froift Ordinary Vessels tfading between Britain and foreign ports but. either by private motor-boats or aeroplanes, Suspected stretches of the south and east coast are being :kept under close observation and a strict eye is also being maintained on certain localities inland whefe there arc feasible facilities for the landihg of planes. The trafflc is largely if not entirely in the hands of alieh and often Far Eastern agents, who are attracted by ihe enormous profits to be made, ahd abe .ektremely siibtle ih their methods of . procedure; . Stiff sentences await any Of them Who are caught, for the drug mehace is recognised as a frightful one.
