NEW MAIL FACILITIES
TARANAKI-WELLINGTON TRAIN HMETABLE AMENDMENT. NIGHT SERVICE TO BE AVAILABLE. STATEMENT BY THE POSTMASTER. With the amendment on June 20 of the Main Trunk express timetables an improved postal service for Taranaki will be brought into operation. The chief postmaster at New Plymouth, Mr. R. G. May, stated yesterday that with the introduction ot the new train timetables mails for Wellington, Palmerston North and Hawkes Bay posted in Taranaki on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in time to catch the New Ply-mouth-Auckiland express will be transferred at Taumarunui to the south-bound Limited express, They will thus reach palmerston North early the following morning and be in . Wellington by 9.30 a.m. The time of arrival at Palmerston North will enable mail destined for Hawkes Bay to reach its destination on the day following posting in Taranaki. Similarly mail posted in Wellington on Tuesdays and Thursdays in time to catch the 3 a.m. express for Auckland will reach New Plymouth at 7 a.m. the following day, via Taumarunui.
