PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr. C. . Maslin, Eltham, has returned from a tour of the Auckland, Waikato and Tauranga districts. The long and untiring service of the late Mr. T. H. Hughes as a bandsman and conductor was recorded at a meeting of the Taranaki Brass and Pipe Bands' Union at Stratford on Wednesday night. George, for his donation of a shield for the hymn test at the annual contest. Mr. A. Morath, Napier, has been appointed postal supervisor at the Stratford post office in succession to Mr. E. W. Boundy, who was transferred to Hawera. Dr. W. D. Brown, who will leave tomorrow for Otago following his resignation from the position of medical superintendent of the Stratford hospital, was farewelled on Tuesday night by Stratford members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Mr. A. H. R. Amess, president, in presenting a crystal vase expressed appreciation of Dr. Brown's work as lecturer and examiner and regret at his departure, stating that the help of the medical profession was necessary to enable the brigade's work to continue. Mr. J. L. O. Rowe, divisional superintendent, also expressed thanks. Dr. Brown said he had been pleased to help. The brigade had helped materially in the transport of sick and injured patients, he added, mentioning particularly Mr. G. Buckley.
