SPIRITED DEMAND
JOHNSONVILLE PRICES HIGH. GOOD COMPETITION FOR EWES. An overflow yarding of cattle met with a spirited sale at Johnsonville, prices for bullocks being par to 5s better than export. There was little inquiry for light cattle. Heavy cows met an excellent eale at prices showing an advance on recent saies of 10s per head. A good yarding of wethers came forward, mostly heavyweight sheep which sold readily at late rates. Ewes came forward in smaller numbers than usual, but inet with good competitiou, and prices were par to ls dearer. Lambs met with good competitiou and returned prices a little above schedule. Prices were as follows:— Prime extra heavy bullocks, £13 7s Gd to £12 15s; prime heavy, £12 7s Gd to £11 17s 6d; heavy, £11 12s 6d, £11 5s; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £10 6h to £8' 10s; prime heavy, £7 10s to £6 12s 6d; cows and heifers, £5 10s to £4 2s Gd; vealers, £3 10s to £2 3s. Prime extra heavy wethers, 32s 9d ^ to 31s 5d; prime heavy, 30s 3d to 29s 3d; medium, 27s 4d; prime extra heavy ewes, 25s 6d to 24s ld; prime heavy, 23s 6d to 22s 6d; medium, 20s; heavy lambs, 26s to 24s; medium, 23s to 22s; light, 21s to 20s.
