AWATUNA DISTRICT NEWS

SURPRISE PARTY GIVEN. Mrs, B. Hey, Mangawhero Road, who is leaving shortly for England, was given a surpLe party by neighbours and friends on Tuesday evening. There was a large gathering present, includihg friends from Manaia. The evening passed pleasantly with community singing and games. Vocal items were rendered by Mr. Hey and by Mrs. H. Soothill. The accompaniments were played by Miss Jean Southern. On behalf of her friends, Mrs. D. A. Hughes asked Mrs. Hey to accept a hat box with the best wishes of all for a pleasant trip and holiday. Mrs. Hey suitably replied. A dainty supper was servecL
