HIS "HALF-CENTURY"

CRIME LIST AT BLENHEIM. VALUELESS CHEQUES PRESENTED.
Blenheim, April 28. His "half-century" in crime convictions was reached tliis morning by Arthur Jeffrey Durrant. Durrant, a labourer, pleaded guilty to two charges of false pretences. _ Released from Paparoa on April 9, Durrant arrived at Blenheim on April 16 and made himself known lo a hotel proprietor, whoni he told he was driving a flock of sheep from Christchurch, where he had had a good time, but had lost his cheque hook. The hotel proprietor gave him a cheque form, which Darrant filled in and cashed, later repeating the performance at another Blenheim hotel. Both cheques were valueless. "This brings your convictions to the ha If century," commented Mr. T. E. Maunsell. S.M., after perusing Durrant's list. "You have ten convictions for false pretences." A sentence of a year's imprisonment was imposed.
