OPENING OF LONDON SALES.

London, April 27.. The wool saies opened firmly. Merinos showed a 5 per cent. advance and crossbreds 5 per cent. for fine and 1\ per cent. to 10 per cent. for medium and coarse. A total of 7492 bales were offered, including 2549 New Zealand. There was a good selection and 6795 bales were sold. There was keen general competition, particularly from the home trade. Saies included: New Zealand greasy crossbred (Owaka), ,top 18)d, average 17 7-8d; slips, halfbred lambs (Canterbury), top 25s, average 23d.
