RETURN TO SYDNEY NECESSARY. VESSEL BOUND FOR WELLINGTON.

Sydney, April 9. The British freighter City of Glasgow, bound for Wellington and Montreal with a cargo of Australian products for Canada, was compelled to return to Sydney yesterday after eight hours at sea owing to a serious leak in her hull. A diver examined the hull and discovered a slight leak aft, in the vicinity of the rudderpost, which was to be rectifled to-day. The ship was to sail for Wellington late this afternoon.
