WAVERLEY SCHOOL
SCHEME FOR MILK SUPPLY. The monthly meeting of the Waverley school committee was held on Tuesday night. Those present were Messrs. Boyne, W. Dalrymple, E. Ross, Elmslie, Beer and N. Bromiley. Correspondence was received from the Education Department witli reference to milk for school children. It was decided that the matter be held over until the next meeting, members and teachers to gather information. Messrs. Ross and Bromiley were asked to arrange the lease of • the school paddock. The arrangements for the extension of the tennis courts were left in the hands of Messrs. Ross and Staite. It was decided that the board be asked to give a lead in the matter of coronation celebrations. It was resolved that the committee congratulate the teaching staff and the children on their excellent performances at the Patea sports. Waverley Lawn Tennis Club. A meeting of the committee of the Waverley Tennis Club was held on Tuesday night, Dr. P. V. Graves presiding. An approximate estimate of accounts showed the club to be in a satisfactory financial position. It was resolved that a donfition of £2 2s be given to the Waverley Bowling Club in appreciation of its generosity to the tennis club during the tournament. To-morrow was fixed for the closing of the season, for which a yankee tournament would be arranged. The final of the men's championship singles in the Taranaki tournament will be played tomorrow, the finalists being A. Dickie and E. Dickie.. Miss R. Shearman and D. Newland will play Miss O. Mathews and T. Hills.in tlie finals of Mrs. Metcalf's trophy competition. Personal and General News. Matches played at the Waverley croquet lawns resulted as follows: Senior championship finals, Mrs. Beer defeated Mrs. Sheppard; junior championship final, Mrs. Thomas won from Mrs. Train; match for the challenge buttons, Mrs. Hodgson and Miss J. Lupton defeated Mrs. Alexander and Mrs. Shearman. The Waverley Druids' Lodge held a euchre party-dance on Monday night. There was an excellent attendance. The euchre prize-winners were Miss R. Presland and Mr. J. Burne. The consolation prizes were wdn by Mrs. Boyd and Mr. W. Sutton. After supper dancing was enjoyed until midnight. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Wallace, who spent a holiday at Rotorua, returned to Waverley on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Dallison are visiting relatives. at Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. S. Bromiley, who have been visiting relatives at Wellington, are expected to return to-d&y. Mrs. Stewart Wellington' is visiting her daughter, Mrs. G. R. Ross, at the Manse. Mrs. E. Parsons is visiting Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Baxter, New Plymouth, spent a short stay with relatives at Waverley.
