LAUNDRY DESTROYED

OUTBREAK IN EARLY MORNING. BRIGADE SAVES SPREAD OF FIRE. An early morning outbreak of fire at the A.l. Laundry, Courtenay Street, New Plymouth, on Thursday destroyed the wasli-house and several bags of laundry, part of the contents. The New Plymouth Fire Brigade received an alarm by telephone at 4 o'clock but, in spite of a prompt response, it found it impossible to save the building. The building, consisting of wood and iron; was situated at the rear of a residence occupied by Mr. A. Williams, proprietor of the, laundry, and was owned by the estate of the late Mr. E. McGinty. The residence was endangered for a time, but a windless morning saved a spread of the fire and the building escaped with a scorching.
