CONCERT BY PUPILS
WAITUI BREAKING-UP CEREMONY. ENTERTAINMENT OF PARENTS. The Waiti school entertained parents and friends at a social gathering in the Waitui hall, where numerous items were given by the children before a short dance for the adults. The programme was: Songs, “Boney waa a Warrior,” “My Bonnie,” “Cockles and Mussels,” senior pupils; recitations, “The Snail,” Olive Candy, “Oh, Look at the Moon,” Margaret Mclntyre, “Butterflies and Bumble Bees,” Betty Jones, “My Pets,” Orrel Lyon, “Look,” all; dialogue, “The Miser in the Bramble Bush,” Len Wellington, John Mclntyre, Pat Clark, Mervyn Buckley, Maise Candy, Audrey Candy, Dolly Schreiber, Irene Wellington, Ron Clark, James Lyon, Robert Hunter; recitations, “Fishing,” Ned Westfold, “Brave Billy,” Brian Buckley, “Sunshine,” Bill Candy, “The Lost Lamb,” all; dialogue, “The Highlander,” Maise Candy, Lillian Westfold, Dolly Schreiber, Violet Westfold, Audrey Candy, Vera Westfold. Books were distributed to every Waitui child in the hall. Attendance certificates were presented to John Mclntyre, Margaret Mclntyre, Maise Candy, Olive Candy, Brian Buckley, Mervyn Buckley, Irene Wellington and Dolly Schreiber, who has five years’ unbroken attendance. John Mclntyre on behalf of the pupils presented a gift and a bouquet of red roses to the teacher, Miss James. Every child also received a gift from the Christmas tree. A lucky cap competition was won by Mrs. M. Sattler and Mr. Claud Buckley. Messrs. Schreiber and Buckley then provided music for dancing,
