SOUTH TARANAKI ELEVEN CHOSEN. TRIAL MATCH AGAINST NORTH. Many players not being available because of the holidays, the South Taranaki cricket team to meet North Taranaki at New Plymouth on January 1 and 2 has had to be recast, and the amended team was announced yesterday. The game was arranged to take the place of the cancelled fixtures to have been played by both divisions against Victoria University College, and both teams have been selected with the object of giving players likely to be selected to play for Taranaki against the M.C.C. match practice on the ground where the game will take place—Pukekura Park, New Plymouth. ’ Five regular. South Taranaki men are not available and the South'eleven has been completed by the inclusion of two North Taranaki Country Association players to give them a trial. The team will be:— W. Barker (Hawera Old Boys). H. Barker (Hawera Old Boys). D. G. Buist (Hawera Old Boys). W. Geary (Hawera). M. Meuli (Hawera). T. Pritchard (Hawera Wednesday). V. Betts (Kaponga). Ross Eden (Manaia). S. Pauling (Patea). St. Giddy (Tarurutangi). Sp. Giddy (Tarurutangi). S. Betts, W. Dormer (Kaponga), R. Barlow, A. C. Walker (Stratford), L. Duke (Hawera Old Boys) and R. Lendrum (Power Board) were not available.
