Royal assent has been given to the Maintenance and Alimony Relief “‘Act, which ’ provides that persons serving terms of imprisonment for failure to pay alimony or maintenance have the right to apply to the court for exemption from their imprisonment. The Attorney-General, Mr. John Mullan, said that the applicant must satisfy the court that the inability to make the payments was not through his own fault.
