MARKET STILL WEAK
SILVER SELLING DISORGANISED. UNITED STATES DECLINES TO BUY. (British Official Wireless). Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Dec. 20. Conditions in the silver market, which is still disorganised, were much the same to-day as yesterday. There -were heavy offerings and the United States treasury declined to buy more than 8 per cent, of the total. The market therefore was weak, the price for bar silver being 7-16 d lower at 21fd and the price for silver two months forward being 231 d. It is officially stated that the market will be closed every Saturday until further notice.
