COWS WASHED AWAY

IN TROUBLE AT FORD. The deceptive nature of . the ford through the Patea River on the stock route through Stratford yesterday caused a drover to lose temporarily .several head of cattle. The river was still • swollen after the week’s rain but judging it by experience the drover considered it was feasible to drive the herd through. The stock had difficulty immediately and before the drover could do anything the cattle were washed away.
