SUFFICIENT AMOUNT IN HAND. ART GALLERY ACQUISITION. . By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. As the result of an appeal throughout the Dominion for funds to enable the painting of a portrait of Lord Bledisloe by ,an eminent artist, the portrait to be presented to the National Art Gallery, the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, announced to-day that the sum of £3OO had been raised. An additional £3OO is required and Mr. Hislop said this would be made available as the Public Trustee, with the consent of Sir Harold Beauchamp, was providing the balance of the money from a trust created by Sir Harold for the collection of pictures for the National Art Gallery.
