The death of Mr. Hylton Philipson, a member of Lord Sheffield s and Stoddart’s cricket teams which visited Australia, is reported by cable from London. Mr. R. Cock, Vogeltown, whose recent sudden illness caused anxiety, is making excellent progress and is already convalescent. The Duke of Northumberland has been appointed by the British Minister of Air, Lord Swinton, to be his Parliamentary private secretary, says a British Official Wireless message. Mr. R. A. Wilson, of the teaching staff of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School, leaves to-night for Auckland en route to England. Mr. Wilson intends to pursue special study in England, for which he has obtained a year’s leave of absence, and will probably visit the Continent before returning to New Zealand.
