DRIVER EXONERATED

FATAL OKAIAWA COLLISION. CORONER RETURNS HIS VERDICT. The car driver, William Henry Martin, Okaiawa, was not in his opinion responsible for the accident, said Mr. R. S. Sage, district coroner, in giving his verdict at Hawera yesterday following Monday’s inquest into the death of Hone Henare, aged 21, who was killed instantly when his motor-cycle collided with Martin’s car near Okaiawa on November 24. “Henare came by his death through exceedingly severe head injuries received in the collision,” said Mr. Sage. “From the evidence adduced and an inspection of the site of the accident I consider that the motor-cycle was not under complete control and that the car driver was not responsible for the accident.”
