GOLD MINING ACTIVITY.

The Mataki gold return for the week ending November 24 was 60oz for 133 hours’ work, reports the Press Association. Other gold returns reported by the Press Association are: Okarito, 430 z 12 dwt for 124 hours; Gillespie’s, 320 z 3dwt for 128 hours. FEILDING STOCK SALE FIRM MARKET FOR FAT SHEEP. Dalgety and Co. Ltd. had a nominal entry of stock at the Feilding sale on Friday. Fat sheep were in small supply and the market had a firm tone throughout. Store sheep comprised principally woolly hoggets, but in this section there was a dull sale, no doubt caused through the absence of many farmers through shearing activities. The greater proportion of tlie offering was passed in at auction. Store cattle were penned in small numbers and little business was transacted. A fair entry of beef cattle came to hand, but these sold steadily. A nondescript entry of dairy stock was penned and a slack sale resulted except for best sorts. Quotations were: Fat woolly ewes 22s 6d, fat ewes 17s 4d, fat wethers 21s, 245, ewe hoggets 325, shorn b.f. hoggets 20s, wether hoggets 20s, shorn hoggets 17s, shorn two-tooth wethers 18s Id; dairy heifers, r.w.b. £5 10s, dairy cows, r.w.b. £2 12s 6d, £2 15s, £3, £4 ss, dairy cows in milk £3, yearling Jersey bulls £1 ss, £1 12s 6d, £2 7s 6d, Jersey bulls £2 17s 6d, £3 10s, £4 ss, store cows 27s 6d to 555, fat heifers, dairy £4 15s, £6 2s 6d, fat heifers £7 15s, fat cows £7 2s 6d, £7 12s 6d, bullocks £7 ss.
