COASTAL MOVEMENTS. The Holmglen left New Plymouth on Saturday for Port Waikato. She will load at Dunedin on Thursday for New Plymouth, via southern ports, and is due on December 3. (Hooker Bros.). The Hauturu arrived at New Plymouth from Onehunga on Saturday and, after

the discharge of 160 tons, will sail for Wanganui to-day. (Northern Co.). The Inaha is scheduled to arrive at New Plymouth to-morrow from Greymouth. (Hooker Bros.). The Kaimai loaded at Greymouth on Monday for Wellington, Lyttelton and New Plymouth. She is due at New Plymouth to-morrow and will sail the same day for Wellington. (U.S.S. Co.). The Parera will load at Timaru to-day for New Plymouth. She is due at New Plymouth on Thursday and will sail the same day for Port Waikato. (Hooker Bros.). The Karu loaded dt Dunedin on Thursday for New Plymouth, via southern ports. She is due from Nelson on Friday and will sail the same day for Wellington. MOVEMENTS OF OVERSEAS SHIPS. WAIPAWA DUE WEDNESDAY. The Shaw, Savill steamer Waipawa is due at New Plymouth from Nelson on Wednesday to load dairy produce and freight carcases. She will sail later in the week. WAIWERA AND WAIRANGI. The Shaw, Savill and Albion motorship Waiwera is to leave Liverpool on November 30 and the company’s motorship Wairangi will leave London on December 3. After discharging their cargoes in Australia both vessels will load in New Zealand for Great Britain. CURRENT AMERICAN SHIPBUILDING. The latest returns show that on July 1 last American shipyards were building or under contract to build for private shipowners 49 vessels aggregating 20,292 tons gross, compared with 48 of 19,660 tons a month previously. This total included only two vessels of over 1000 tons gross. STRATHNAVER AT AUCKLAND. The P. and O. liner Strathnaver which arrived at Auckland from Brisbane on Friday made a fast passage of two days 17 hours 52 minutes at an average speed of 20.56 knots. Fresh. south-west winds and head seas were experienced. Being one of the largest vessels to visit Auckland her arrival was watched by thousands of people from different vantages on the waterfront. The Stratnaver’s tonnage is 22,283 gross and she has seven decks. Her crew number 490 all told and she has accommodation for 1150 passengers. She has three funnels, two of which are dummies and are used as store rooms. There are two large motor launches, 12 Fleming handlever propelled lifeboats and six lifeboats propelled by oars.
