The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. reports a smaller yarding in all sections at Feilding on Friday. Fat ewes came forward in limited numbers and sold at about Is above last sale. Wethers with a few exceptions were of indifferent quality and sold at about Is a head lower. There was a fair entry of store sheep and competition was not keen, although a keen demand was in evidence provided prices were not too high. Generally prices were about Is a head lower, except for ewes and lambs. There was a small entry of both dairy cows and heifers at prices on a par with recent rates. Store cattle were rather neglected at the commencement of the sale, but competition brightened as the sale progressed, and a total clearance was effected under the hammer in advance on last week’s rates. A light yarding of beef met with keen competition and sold readily at prices in advance of recent sales.
Some of the prices realised were: 62 ewe hoggets at 31s 6d; 78 ewe hoggets at 30s 6d; 80 ewe hoggets at 335; 146 ewe hoggets at 32s 9d; 22 wether hoggets at 21s 2d; 6 fat . ewes at 14s 2d; 2 fat ewes at 17s 9d, 26 fat ewes at 15s 9d, 10 ewe hoggets at 25s 6d, springing heifers £2 12s 6d to £4 ss, dairy cows £3 12s 6d to £4 10s, weaner Jersey heifers £2 10s, £2 17s 6d, £2 15s, £3 2s, boner cows 32s 6d to £3 2s, fat P.A. heifers £7 15s, fat P.A. cows £6 8s 6d, fat cows, dairy sorts £3 5s to £6 ss.
