CANARIES AND CAGE BIRDS. STRATFORD FANCIERS’ SUCCESSES. A credit balance of £7 was showh in the report on the year's activities of the Stratford Canary and Cage Bird Club presented to the annual meeting of the , club last night Mr. H. Dixon presided. •£ The season had been the most success- )< ■ ful yet experienced by the club, said the J report Members had worked *:. exceptionally hard for the furtherance of < the fancy and had been successful in interesting a fair number of new members. The club now had 36 financial members. ■' During 1935 two very successful shows were 3 held, the young, bird show in ij .■ March and the annual show in July. Both were unqualified successes, there being over 300 cages at the annual show. Besides its own shows, the dub assisted J •' in staging a very creditable bird section at the Stratford winter show. Members met with a good deal of success at the various shows, and the presi- i dent congratulated Mr. D. Butcher on ; < winning the special budgerigar prize at . the show, Mr. E. R. L. Batten on his special at the Grand National with his greenfinch, and Mr. Long on his special at New Plymouth with his Yorkshire canary. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr. H. Dixon; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. G. Beal; honorary auditor, Mr. E) R. L. Batten; executive committee, Messrs. J. Kerswill, R. Penniall, D. Butcher, T. Long and E. R. L. Batten; patron, Mr. J. W. McMillan; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. H. Trotter, R. Masters, L. Walters, S. A. Mann, J. Kerswill, J. Huddlestone. The subscription was left as for last year. It was decided to hold the next annual meeting on the second Monday in October. The annual show dates, were decided V on as the first Friday and Saturday after July 20. Messrs. J. Kerswill, J. W. Spence, W. Adams and S. Uncles were elected members.
