Auckland, Nov. 14. “He is the gamest man I’ve ever met," said a St. John Ambulance officer this morning with reference to Mr. Tom Briars, aged 36, married, of Titirangi Beach. ’ -;u.Briars was struck by a train near NewLynn late last night, receiving shocking injuries to his foot. The accident was unnoticed by the train crew and Briars crawled along the track for 100 yards before his shouts brought help. An ambulance was called and the patient was taken to hospital, where his foot was. amputated this morning. . Railway officials stress the risk of pedestrians trespassing on the lines.
