Twin Bull Calves At Ngahiwi.

Meon Kudos, the. Brampton Dreaming Sam cow which realised top price at Mr. C. H. Weston’s dispersal sale last year and finished her test with 6951 b fat, has just given birth to twin bull calves to the imported Brampton’s Volunteer’s Son. Inspected at Ngahiwi stud, of which she is now one of the matrons, Meon Kudos certainly presents a remarkable sight, giving every indication of a great producer. ’ Daisy Fern, by the imported Vagabond of Oaklands, the highest priced cow at Mr. E. Griffiths’ sale, also now domiciled at Ngahiwi, has also produced a splendid heifer calf. Ngahiwi stud also topped the market at the recent Waiwakaiho supplementary bull fair with a son of Ngahiwi Silent Knight C. 8.8., out of Ngahiwi’s Lassie (8171 b of fat); special gold medallist. This bull, too, remains in the district, the purchaser being Mr. A. Baker, Pukearuhe. At the same sale Mr. W. J. Freeth also purchased for the Ngahiwi stud Mr. E. J. Clough’s bull Cyrilla’s Twylish, whose full-sister is giving up to 791 b milk daily. The bull which Mr. Freeth is importing from America comes from the Island family that holds the milk record for the Jersey Island with 811 b fat daily.

Royal Show Entries. Record entries have been received by the Hawkes Bay A. and P. Show for this year’s Royal Show which takes place at Tomoana on Wednesday and Thursday next. The total entries arc 4525, as compared with 3677 in 1930 when the Royal Show was last held at Tomoana and 3279 for last year’s Hawkes Bay show. Among the stock sheep lead with 801 entries this year compared with 648 at the. 1930 Royal Show. The entries in horses are very strong totalling 777 as compared with 649. There are 439 entries in cattle as compared with 419 and 199 entries in pigs as compared with 142.
