The Hawera Wrestling Association has matched “Lofty” Blomfi'ld and Johnnie Woods in an eight-round professional contest next Thursday night. This will be the first meeting between the pair and seems certain to be a fast, enter-

taining bout. Undoubtedly the most popular wrestler in the Dominion, Blomfield is at present at the top of . his form. He has gone on to. success after success, and his brilliant performances in holding Earl McCready to a draw at Dunedin and securing a fall against the Canadian champion at Auckland on Monday night have earned him a high position in the eyes of New Zealand wrestling enthusiasts. In Johnny WoodsBlomfield is opposed by a matman in many respects similar to himself. Only 24 years of age, this Californian university graduate is fast rising to the top of the tree. He was a great .success in Australia, where he figured in hectic encounters with Tom Lurich. He made his New Zealand debut by putting up a great showing at Wellington against Earl McCready. Since then he has figured in two most spectacular bouts, jthe first with Ole Andresen at Auckland and the other against Glen Wade at Christchurch on Tuesday night, described as the best seen at Christchurch so fin . this season. He is definitely improving with every bout. Both are of the type, that rely on fast,; hard, and and clean wrestling of the class that never fails to please the public.
