. PICTURES FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. NEW DISTRIBUTION ARRANGEMENT. The management of New Plymouth Picture Theatres Ltd., which controls the Opera House, the Regent Theatre and Everybody’s Theatre programmes has arranged to screen in 1936 the films distributed by British Empire World Standard Productions. This new banner will handle, through one exchange,-the entire product of 17 studios including British International Pictures Ltd., Associated Talking Pictures Ltd., General
Film Distributors Ltd. and Cinesound Productions Ltd. ' ?
Approximately 65 world standard productions will be distributed. Some of the stars who will appear , are: Robert i; Donat, Tom Walls, Jack Buchanan, Ann Harding, Frances Day, Buddy Rogers, C. Aubrey Smith, Irene Dunne, Greta Nissen, Bela Lugosi, Marlene Dietrich, Ralph Lynn, Clive Brook, Leslie . Howard, Anna Sten, Maurice Chevalier, Joel McCrea, Elissa Landi,. Gene Gerrard, Noah Beery, Clifford Mollison, Anna Neagle, Richard Tauber, Helen Vinson, Fay. Wray, Henry Wilcoxon, Gracie Fields, Nils Asther, Gitta Alpar, Lilian Harvey, Yvonne Arnaud, John Loder. Promised films are “Heart’s Desire,” Richard Tauber; “I Give My. Heart,” Gitta Alpar; “Invitation to the Waltz,” Lilian Harvey; “Street Singer Serenade,” Arthur Tracey • and ‘ Anna Neagle; “Glamorous Night,” Irene Dunne; . “The Blue Lagoon,” the first British picture to be made entirely on technicolqur; 1 “Queen of Hearts,” Gracie Fields; “Marriage of Corbal,” a Sabatini story, featuring Nils Asther and C. Aubrey Smith; “Pagliacci,” Richard Tauber; “When Knights Were Bold,” Jack Buchanan and Fay Wray; “His Majesty’s Pyjamas,” Clive Brook and/Helen Vinsen; “Lady of the Camellias,” Ann Harding, Clive Brook; “Koenigsmark,” Elissa Landi; “Bonny Prince Charlie,” with Leslie Howard in his own producing company; “Lady Hamilton,” Anna Sten; “Whom The Gods Love,” Victoria Hopper, Sir 'i nomas Beecham; “Up With The Lark,” Gracie Fields; “Beloved Vagabond,” Maurice Chevalier; “Mystery of Marie Celeste,” Bela Lugosi; Robert Donat in £120,000 spectacle, subject to be selected. Added to this line-up of coure will be the Australian pictures. Helen Twelvetrees arrives in New Zealand on November 28 en route to Sydney to make the first international picture at the Cinesound studios. The story will be “The Thoroughbred,” and will feature the famous Peter Pan, who now is a very cilose rival of the honours achieved ‘by Phar Lap. Cinesound is expending £6OOO in salary alone to Miss Twelvetrees in this production. Two other titles are also named from Cinesound, “Tall Timbers,” tentative, only, with stars yet to be announced and “Robbery Under Arms.” These three Australian pictures will definitely be made this season.
