TOKO SCHOOL BATHS
IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE. MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING. J The monthly meeting of the Toko school committee was held on Monday there being present Messrs. T. T. Murray (chairman), G. Were (secretary), Needham, E. Milne and Caskey, With reference to a request from the education board for particulars of the early history of the school, the chairman reported having interviewed the secretary of the old pupils’ association, Miss Were, who had promised to furnish the required particulars. Mr. Murray said he had also met representatives of the old girls’ basketball club and discussed improvements to the grounds. It was decided to leave the work until the new year. A visit of inspection was paid to the school baths which had been damaged in the recent floods. It was decided to have a working bee on Monday next to repair the damage and carry out further improvements.
The education board wrote approving of a holiday for the sports gala day on Thursday. A half-day was granted. The headmaster reported that the roll number was 105 and the average attendance 101.5 for the last four weeks. Except for colds the health of the children had been good through the winter and as a result the average attendance had been high, enabling the work to proceed satisfactorily. ADVERTISERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS. Mr. P. Skoglund, Labour candidate for Stratford, in his address at Tariki tonight, will make special reference to Mr. W. J. Polson’s statements regarding the Rural Mortgagors’ Final Adjustment Act.
