IMPROVING WEATHER
COLD SQUALLS AT FIRST By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be cold, changeable and squally, generally, with passing showers, hail on parts of the east coast and snow on some ranges. Conditions will be mainly fair, however, in Westland, and conditions will improve in most districts to-morrow. Sharp frosts are likely inland in the South Island. Barometers are still rather low but the depression is moving eastwards and an anti-cyclone over the Tasman is advancing toward the Dominion. Southerly to south-westerly winds are probable, of gale force at places but gradually moderating. Seas will be rough to high on the west coast of the North Island and south of Castlepoint and elsewhere rather rough to rough.
