WEDNESDAY BOWLING

SECOND WEEK’S COMPETITIONS. WIN FOR HAWERA CLUB TEAMS. The Wednesday bowling competitions were continued in South Taranaki yesterday, play going on in spite of., wet and windy weather. Wins were secured by the Hawera and Park teams. Hawera Park teams won'' three of the four matches against Opunake at Opu-

Westerly showers interfered with play at the Hawera green between Hawera and Manaia but in spite of the unpleasant conditions the games were played to a finish. Hawera won in three of the four rinks, scoring 107 points to 82.

EGMONT SPRING SHOW. ENTRIES CLOSE ON SATURDAY. i Entries for the Egmont A. and P. show at Hawera close on Saturday. Never before in the history of any association has such an opportunity been presented to exhibitors. The trophies and prize money this year exceed anything offered. Last year exhibitors from Manawatu, Wairarapa, Hawke Bay and Waikato patronised this fixture and it is anticipated that the Dominion’s leading studs, flocks and herds will again be represented this year. The Hawera show has rapidly come into prominence and it is realised that to secure a prize ticket at Hawera is a mark of quality. Entries are coming in freely and exhibitors will assist the secretary greatb by making their entries as early as possible. For those who are interested in side shows, everything points to the greatest display of this kind ever seen on the grounds. Application for space have been coming to hand for weeks past and the titles of some of these shows—such as “The Human Torpedo,” “Somersaulting Motor-Cyclist,” ‘St. Moritz Skaters,” point to plenty of thrills. Since the schedule was printed a further dc.”.at*on has bee i received for the pet lamb class. Mr. C. Gomer has given £1 Is, bringing the total prize money up to £2 Is for the class.
