PATEA CUBS’ SUCCESS
COMMITTEE’S APPRECIATION. The cubmistress, Miss E. Williams, reported the success of the pack at the monthly meeting of the committee of the Patea Boy Scouts’ Association on Tuesday. At the competitions the Ohawe Legion of Frontiersmen’s Totem Pole had been won by the pack with a score of 5934, a 40 points lead on the runners-up. The committee expressed its congratulations and recorded appreciation of the work of the cubmistresses. A gathering in the pack’s honour is to, be arranged. The scoutmaster, Mr. H. S. Pauling, stated that parades for competition work had been held nightly for the past two weeks and one church parade had been held. Two patrols competed at the competitions at Manaia, the Lion patrol being sixth and the Panther patrol eighth of the 21 patrols competing. Refresher competitions would be held as opportunity offered. Mrs. Wills and Mr. Ramsbottom were thanked for taking the boys to Manaia.
Representations will be made to the centre to have the next competition held at Patea. /
The winning patrol consisted of the following cubs: B. Roots, D. Carey, P. Hunger, G. Honeyfield, J. Imlach and R. Fitewater, Marks won were as follow: Forming circle and howl 69, jungle dances 73, walking plank 70, skipping 100, knot tying 100, first-aid 60, semaphore 53. compass 62J. Mr, E. F. Hemingway presided.
