SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS
KAIMIRO DISTRICT NEWS. At a recent meeting of the Kaimiro school committee the following members were present: Mrs. H. Shoemark, Messrs. H. Shoemark (chairman), R. Smith (secretary), A. Baker and L. Schicker. The headmaster, Mr. H. Read, reported that the attendance had been well maintained. He recommended that improvements to tire luncheon room be made immediately. It was decided to purchase six recordings for infant room use. It was also decided that the headmaster approach the secretary of the Boys and Girls’ Calf Clubs with a view to arranging a field day on the occasion of the calf-judging at the school. The tennis courts have almost been completed. For the past fortnight several working-bees have been held and an area 110 ft by 108 ft has been cemented. The result is highly satisfactory and reflects the highest credit on Mr. H. Gibson, who for the past four weeks has devoted himself to the project. All construction work on the courts was done by local labour at no expense. The cementing of the shelter shed at the school has been completed and the shingle for the assembly ground has been spread. , ± Mr and Mrs. Crawford, Wellington, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. W. Robinson, “Marumaunga.” Mrs East was a recent visitor to the home’of Mrs. N. Gibson, “Wharimu.”
