GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED SANDEL AND MISS McPHERSON. (Special to Daily News.) Taumarunui, Oct. 28. The Taumarunui Golf Club’s annual Labour Day championship drew a large number of competitors and some of the players played consistently throughout the tournament. Following are the results: — Men’s championship final: Sandel defeated Quinn 4 and 2. First handicap: Ross (Matiere) defeated Murray 4 and 3. Second handicap: Kahui defeated. Gray 5 and 4. Senior 36-hole medal handicap: Ross (Matiere) 168 —24—144. Junior 36-hole medal handicap:' Kahui, 173—38—135. 18-hole medal handicap: Fouhy 89—24— 65. Four-ball bogey handicap: J. E. McDonald and K. E. Knapp. A women's tournament also drew good fields, the following being the results:— Championship: Miss McPherson defeated Miss McColl 2 up. Handicap: Mrs Moresby defeated Mrs. R. Somerville 3 and 2. First medal handicap: Mrs. L. G. Spencer, 97 —24—73. Second medal handicap, Miss McPherson 89—16—73. First and second bogey handicaps: Miss McPherson. LONG VIEW LINKS CLOSED. FRASER ROAD CLUB’S DAY. Although as a result of counter-attrac-tions there were not many visitors present there was a good attendance of club members at the Fraser Road Golf Club s closing day on Monday. The Long View course was in particularly good order. Canadian foursomes were played, the winning pair being Mr. and Mrs. E. Best, whose nett score of 64 was a good effort. The scores were:— E.
