“HOUSEWARMING” PARTY. A “housewarming” party was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Reade last Wednesday evening. The evening was spent with cards and community singing led by Mr. A. W. Mapp. Mrs. Askew was the winner at cards. Messrs. M. Davis, A. R. Askew, J. B. Hunt, A. W. Mapp and F. Wall all spoke expressing'regret at the loss Mr. and Mrs. Reade had suffered when their old home was destroyed by fire and wished them many years of happiness in their new home. Mr. Reade replied. Among those present were Mesdames A. R. Askew. J. B. Hunt, A. W. Mapp, J. J. Reade, F. M. Rookes, F. Wall, Misses B. Hunt, J. Rookes and 0. Rookes.

A meeting of the Radnor school committee was held on Monday night. Those present were Messrs. C. C. Davis (chairman), J. G. Vickers (hon. secretary) and G. Vickers and Mrs. A. W. Mapp. It was decided to concrete the path from the school to the shelter shed. Singles ladder matches played last week resulted: Miss D. Kaspar beat Miss B. Hunt (challenger) 6-3, S. Reid beat G. Vickers (challenger) 6—3, A. Mapp beat J. B. Hunt (challenger) 6—l, C. Kelly (challenger) beat H. Vickers 6—l, G. Vickers (challenger) beat C. Kelly 6—5. Owing to wet weather there was no play on Labour Day as had been arranged. Miss Joan Bates has returned to Patea after a visit to her aunt, Mrs. Askew. There has been an outbreak of sickness in the district, several children being unable to attend school last week.
