LITTLE HOPE FOR TRAPPED MEN.

Heavy loss of life is feared as the result of a gas explosion in the Akaike coal mine, says a message from Fukuoka. Seventeen bodies have been recovered, but little hope is entertained for the remaining 135 who were entrapped.
