COMMERCIAL TRUSTS
RECOMMENDATION AGAINST BILL. EVIDENCE NOT YET ANALYSED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 25. Mr. A. D. McLeod (Coalition, Wairarapa), on behalf of the Industries and Commerce Committee of the House of Representatives reported to-day that the cc hpiittee had considered the Commerciti Trust Amendment Bill, but because of the large amount of evidence tendered ■to the committee and the limited time, available to go into it very thoroughly it recommended that the Bill should not be allowed to proceed. The evidence had shown. that there was a demand for the fixation of a minimum price for many articles. Many small traders had been forced into virtual bankruptcy by credit they had to give during the depression and by chain stores who had given no credit. The report was tabled.
